Although Simmental cattle are male and large in body, they have good temperaments and are easy to handle. One of the important characteristics of the Simmentaler breed is its excellent maternal trait. The cow can become pregnant as early as 15 months, have a healthy calf and breed again while nursing her calf. This is a good trait because Simmental Cattle can maintain a calving interval of 365 days. A good breed Simmental cow can produce an average of 16 to 24 pounds (7.3 to 10.9 kg) of milk daily.
