Like others of their kind, sable antelopes have a social structure based on territory, age and strength. The strongest adult males, called bulls, set up territories in good grazing areas. They patrol constantly, encouraging women to enter and challenging other men. A challenge starts with circling each other, clawing the ground and lashing tails. It ends when the bulls fall to their knees and click their horns together. From there it's a pushing competition and the strongest antelope wins.
