The ermine is a small mammal belonging to the weasel family. It can be found in subarctic and arctic parts of North America, Europe and Asia. Ermine lives in forests, swamps, scrublands and areas near rivers. Stoats are welcome in many local communities because of their ability to eradicate pests. Unfortunately, they are often targeted by hunters because of their fur which is still popular in the fashion industry. Despite this, the number of stoats in the wild is still large and stable.
