The fire salamander looks beautiful with its black-yellow, shiny scaled skin. You can easily spot it when it is sitting on a piece of moss, especially because it is quite large for an amphibian species. Its bright body color protects it from predators. It may look beautiful, but taking a bite of it is not a good idea. Oh, a fire salamander! If you see this beautiful amphibian species in the forest or along a stream, you can count yourself lucky. It usually goes out at night. During the day it prefers to hide in a hole in the ground or in a cave. Its black and yellow pattern may be very striking, most animals keep their distance. It is poisonous. This specimen, however, allows friends to pet it safely.
